It was a great war. A war in which we, ordinary players, won, defeating the greed of the creators of all Steam and convincing ourselves Gabe! But this was not the final..
Black Mesa. Early access. 419 rubles. The second wave of indignation has begun. Fellow players clearly missed the fact that the mod was going to be paid. And they forgot that you can pay for good work.
But selling a good mod for money is not the limit. Then I didn’t yet know that there was a paid mod in this world, which even if it was free, is not worth playing. Aperture Tag: The Paint Gun Testng Initiative.
Aperture Tag – this is a paid modification for Portal 2, which is based on a free game Tag: The Power of Paint. A paid modification based on a free game… But let’s talk about what the modification itself is.
Start of the one-on-one game Portal. We wake up, hear some module, go through tests. And that’s all. Aperture Tag – This The Power of Paint, reproduced in scenery Portal 2. For what? — It’s unclear. They don’t explain anything to us during the game.
The module that greets us from the very beginning calls itself Nigel. We will never know what he is responsible for, why he builds cameras for us and what he does in general. Although no, it seems to me, I know why it was created – for tediousness! Apparently, the developers lack talent: the module is trying to imitate Glados, but it’s just annoying. Almost all comments boil down to: “Wow, a very complex camera. Passed! Somehow long, but still well done!». And he repeats such phrases from cell to cell. Same phrases. I don’t want to listen to him, but politely ask him to shut up and leave. But, alas, our heroine picked up Freeman syndrome: mute.
During the game I still didn’t understand when the events of the game unfolded? Why was I chosen for testing?? Why are these tests carried out?? In general, there is no plot.
Fortunately, Nigel falls silent and leaves us alone with the paint gun. Similarities with the most Portal 2 visible to the naked eye. There is a blue portal, there is an orange one, there are gels of the same colors. Blue is responsible for jumping long distances, orange is for acceleration. The main innovation, not seen in Portal, fields that activate and deactivate the gun, thereby limiting the range of action of our unit. The remaining elements – lasers and cubes, their refractors, light bridges, panels of faith – migrated from the second portal. A special attraction is the opportunity to go through a couple of cameras from Portal 2 in a new, very unusual way. Familiar cameras make you move your gray matter and are perhaps the best thing in the game. But the rest of the cameras… the idea with paints works properly and, it would seem, everything is fine, BUT:
Leveldesign. To put it mildly, he’s not very. Cameras are filled with a huge pile of unnecessary elements. Remember the portals, in each chamber each element played its role. What’s here? Cameras are filled with a huge pile of unnecessary elements. Remember the portals, in each chamber each element played its role. What’s here? A bunch of elements that are not responsible for anything and that we don’t even have to use.
Logic. There is a button https://tehokasinocasino.co.uk/withdrawal/ A, there is a door B. And a bunch of elements sewn with white thread D, E, F etc.d. You don’t always understand why follow one path when there is another, more logical one. The developers are trying with all their might to complicate the game, but, alas, to no avail, because..
Simplicity. you passed Portal 2 without problems and “blunts” in 5-6 hours? Congratulations,Aperture Tag you will walk in 2-3 hours. The game is many times easier than portals. Before you even have time to enter the cell, you realize what’s what. Maximum – 2-3 minutes to understand why some elements were added here. The developers are trying their best to make the game more difficult, but still, difficulties are overcome without serious effort.
Forget about the friendly checkpoints from the second portal – if you accidentally died, then be so kind as to stomp from the very beginning of the level. Graphics for Source very average, don’t pay attention to the beautiful screenshots. Quite strange physics in places. But the music is wildly annoying at first, but in the end it improves, and compositions that are pleasant to the ear appear. But add here bugs and generally average technical implementation: the game tends to freeze or crash, and the picture is no longer rosy.
Cameras made by the community are designed to correct the situation, but, alas, even the creations of gamers are not particularly interesting. However, you still need to get to them – at the end of the download you may see some error. The editor here is completely migrated from the second portal without any special changes. So, if you want, you can be a creator. Oh, I completely forgot. The co-op is here exclusively for community cameras.
Achievement: I’m my mom’s painter! Paint the entire lab blue and orange.
As a result, an interesting idea – poor implementation. The difficulties in the game come down to pixel-hatting, strange logic and physics, technical components, clumsy level design. Workshop doesn’t help. I could not find fault with Aperture Tag be it free, but there is a much better original one The Power of Paint, and even for 0 rubles. So what’s the point in having a fashion that costs money but isn’t fun?? Good question.
Pros: possibility to pass cameras from Portal 2 in a non-standard way, the idea at first seems interesting, sometimes funny..
Cons:… but most often – no, problems with camera design and logic, too simple puzzles, mediocre graphics and music, bugs.
Plot: -1 from 10. It’s hard to call what’s here a plot.
Gameplay: 5 from 10. For the opportunity to pass the cameras from the second portal
Sound: 6 from 10. Most of the songs are annoying, but there are some good ones
Picture: 7 from 10. The graphics are not much different from what they were in Portal 2.
Technical execution: 4 from 10. I often had to deal with crashes and bugs. Too often.
Humor: 4 from 10. I always liked Portal primarily because of the wonderful “dialogues” Glados With Chell. The creators tried to fill the speeches Nigel jokes, but, alas, to no avail. Except for a couple of things.
Bottom line: 4.1 from 10. A crooked modification, the action of which, for some unknown reason, takes place in Aperture, with simple and not very interesting puzzles and no humor.
